Project Summary
The project priority was: Supporting schools to tackle early school leaving (ESL) and disadvantages, improving collaboration internally as well as with parents and other local stakeholders.
The main OBJECTIVES were:
1) to exchange and improve partners’ best practice for friendly school environment improvement as an essential pre-condition for early school leaving prevention;
2) to improve the students’ social and civic competencies and skills regarding their contribution to a cohesive local and international society by using innovative and student-centred pedagogical approaches, networking of schools and holistic collaborative approaches to teaching/learning;
3) to improve cooperation internally as well as with parents and other external stakeholders.
Our TARGET GROUPS were students, teachers, schools’ staff, parents and school supporting institutions.
ALL PARTNERS participated in local and international activities, cooperated with the local social partners: parents’ councils, public authorities, social service institutions and other stakeholders, organized evaluation and dissemination activities of the project results.
All local and international activities have been focused on reducing on reducing / preventing early school leaving, mainly focusing on the creating of apositive and motivating school environment..
Together with local participants there were about 3200 students, teachers and parents involved in project activities in all partner schools and their local communities.
INTERNATIONAL LEARNING/TEACHING ACTIVITIES: 3 short term teachers’ training events in Austria, Italy and Croatia, 2 blended mobilities of students in Latvia and Spain, 1 short term students’ exchange in Italy.
Many LOCAL ACTIVITIES have been organized in all partner schools in a similar way, and others- in 1-2 partner schools. JOINT ACTIVITIES:
Regular meetings and joint workshops for situation analyses finding, testing and evaluating of new methods for early school leaving prevention. A questionnaire for parents, colleagues and pupils on “What special things we do /should do at our school to create a friendly school environment” was handed out, filled in and evaluated. Social and civic competences tests and trainings, their results analysis, tasks for further work. Brainstorming “How to combat bullying, mobbing and intra-school violence”.
Creative training workshops: “You are not alone” and “The school of my dream-no drugs, no violence, no bullying” – for different students’ age groups in order to improve different age students’ communication, social, team working skills, develop their resilience.
Creating and updating project links in the partner schools’ websites with summarized best practice examples and regularly updated information about the project activities and results. Implementation and testing of partners’ best practice in other partner schools. “Etiquette is cool!” –role plays to train good manners and its video documentation.
Seminars for all students, staff and families so they can present ideas, works and strategies to help solving the problems in schools. Joint conflict solving/prevention training sessions (students-parents, teachers- students).
Developing and testing materials/suggestions about the opportunities of theinterdisciplinary approach and extracurricular activities (i.e. sports, social activities, intergenerational cooperation) for improvement of school environment and ESL prevention.
Excursions, field trips, workshops, flipped classroom activties, presentations. Invitiation of experts.
Working out of the project final product- video advertisement of “Friendly school”, based on the questionaire results (done during the 1st project year). The results and conclusions of the project research have been used also for the improvement of the ethic rules of all partner schools and our schools’ strategical development plans and have been partly implemented during the project. This work will be continued also after the project.
Preparation and publishing of the Project Magazines Nb1 and Nb2.
