Project Summary

The objective of this project is to popularise cultural heritage and increase its presence in social life using remote tools. In the project, we also assume the expansion of potential target groups of cultural and creative sector institutions by making the world of art and culture more accessible to people with hearing and vision impairments. The idea of the current project emerged immediately after the announcement of the new competition. However, the idea of the project dedicated to increasing the activity of people with sensory disabilities in the world of tourism and culture appeared last autumn during the work on the earlier Erasmus + Project entitled “People with sensory disabilities as a target group for the tourism industry – exchange of good practices ”(Deaf Tourism). The pandemic shaped the final form of the project by adding a key element – switching to remote functioning.
The project relates directly to the horizontal priority assigned to the current competition: Supporting creativity and cultural awareness is a response to difficulties connected with the Coivd-19 pandemic in relation to the activity of cultural and creative sector institutions. Project implementation will allow of the use of the capabilities of remote tools and applications to expand the offer of these institutions and enable them to function online. The project also assumes that the representatives of cultural and creative sector institutions will become familiar with the specific needs and possibilities of people with sensory disabilities, and thus expand their potential target group. The target groups of the project include:
– owners and employees of cultural and creative sector institutions – small local institutions such as art workshops, museums, etc.,
– entities supporting small and local institutions of culture and creative sector e.g. local government units which finance the activity of cultural and creative sector institutions, umbrella organisations associating/supporting the activity of local cultural and creative sector institutions e.g. non-governmental organisations, centres supporting local activity, local thematic networks, other entities/persons providing services to cultural and creative sector institutions, e.g. training companies, IT specialists, instructors, activity organisers.
The innovative character of the project concerns two aspects – the need to switch to remote working conditions in the case of cultural and creative sector institutions and the possibility of becoming familiar with the target group which so far has been of marginal importance for this type of institution, namely people with sensory disabilities.
During the project implementation we intend to develop three results:
– the O1 result is a manual for cultural and creative sector institutions on the digitisation of offers in the form of e-learning training using the Articulate 360 programme dedicated to cultural and creative sector institutions as well as small local cultural companies left without any digital support and without customers;
– the O2 result is training for the owners and employees of local cultural and creative sector institutions, the aim of which will be to familiarise the representatives of the world of culture, art and the creative sector with the specificity of people with sensory disabilities and their perception of the world;
– the O3 result is an offer of cultural and creative sector institutions for people with sensory disabilities – a map of places friendly to people with sensory disabilities.
At the end of the project we anticipate that the representatives of cultural and creative sector institutions will acquire skills allowing them to function in a remote environment. We also believe that thanks to the results developed under the project, they will be prepared to accept a new target group of customers – people with sensory disabilities. The added value that might emerge as a result of authors’ interest in the specific needs and capabilities of people with sensory disabilities should be their inspiration with a different perception of the world. This primarily refers to perceiving the world with senses other than those we are used to (e.g. mainly by smell or taste, as in the case of blind or deaf-blind people).
The project will be implemented in cooperation with eight entities from four European Union countries (two Partners from Poland, Cyprus, Greece and Portugal). The partnership consists of institutions which are experienced in project implementation and have a great impact on the local community as well as small cultural and creative sector organisations. We have created the partnership in such a way that a larger and more experienced Partner from a given country supports another entity that comes from the project target group and usually has no experience in international cooperation or project activities. We believe that this will ensure our success and full achievement of our objectives.
