Project Summary
In this project, 4 schools from Germany, France, Italy and Greece cooperate for a school exchange program KA229. They are comprehensive schools. Participants are teachers and students who will work using foreign languages, mostly English but will learn some vocabulary of the host country. The students are aged between 15 and 18, each school plans to involve about 20 students, 9-10 teachers and members of school governance/principals . Among the students we will pay attention to the selection of deprived students. Then these students and teachers will be in charge of disseminating the results locally.
The title of the project is “TE@MS”, meaning ”Together Empower – Activate – Motivate Schools””. A specific logo will be designed . The project addresses 3 major priorities. One is inclusion due to the increasing number of foreign students in each school. The second is the development of skills and competences for students and teachers. This will be dealt with through improving technological, cultural, linguistic and communication skills. That will lead to a real gain of motivation and will reduce the early school leaving risk and enhance the will of joining further education in compliance with the stipulations of Europe 2020 and the digital agenda. European communication platforms will be used.
As for the third priority, teachers, they will participate in training sessions on digital teaching tools and exchange best practices during some job shadowing sessions or co-teaching activities. It will boost their motivation for teaching and help them feel closer to this very digital young generation.
Methodology is mainly based on group work, either of national groups (creating survival kits, creating the introductory video, disseminating results locally, …) or internationally mixed groups (during the mobilities and while working on the twinspace).
The mobilities include activities for the students like ice breaking, games, cultural visits, class attendance and observation, participation in international evenings, living in a host family, dealing with cultural differences, giving presentations in front of larger audiences and learning how to evaluate certain aspects.
Undoubtfully, both teachers and students will use the new skills and knowledge in the long term, so benefit either in their studies or at work. As for the schools, it will strengthen their European dimension and reputation.
