Project Summary
Because we are convinced that our role as educators is not limited to the classroom, but that we must offer our young students the keys to successful professional integration, because we think that the labor market is bigger than the department, the Region or the Country, but that it extends to the borders of the European Union and beyond, we wanted to bring our partners on the path of the construction of a common documentary database containing the particularities of each country in terms of recruitment, administrative procedures related to employment, contract, wages, level of training required, needs, etc.
In addition to this knowledge base, students participating in this project will be prepared for recruitment techniques and will be able to develop their own tools.
The ultimate goal of this collaboration in five countries is to open doors to facilitate the pursuit of studies, the search for internships or employment.
Saint Eloi High School (Aix en Provence – France) using the eTwinning platform has been looking for partner institutions with a similar profile. Four institutions quickly met these criteria: Escola Basica e Secundaria (Santa Cruz – Portugal), Holy Rosary College (Mountbellew, Galway – Ireland), Istituto Superiore A-Ruiz (Augusta- Sicily – Italy) and Instituto De Educación Secundaria (Fene – Spain)
A total of 100 students will participate in this project with twenty students per school. They will be chosen according to the following criteria:
– must study in Year 11 and 12 (general, technological or vocational).
– must be between 15 and 18 years old.
– are able to demonstrate their motivation for pursuing studies abroad or obtaining a job among the European partner countries.
– are able to show great interest in discovering another country, another culture.
– are willing to move forward creatively and collaboratively with student partners and supervisory staff.
– are interested in developing their communication using foreign language skills.
– priority being given to students who will gain even more benefits such as those with learning difficulties or specific disabilities such as dyslexia, Asperger’s syndrome, TDHA, as well as behavioral problems such as anxiety and lack of self-confidence.
Students will use the experience of this project to help them overcome social barriers such as social exclusion, poverty or the risk of academic failure or failure in job search.
In order to supervise the groups of students each school has formed a team of teachers, educational or administrative staff. Partner companies will be involved in the project, they will take part directly in the various activities, will shed a concrete light on the economic network of the regions, the recruitment criteria and the needs.
Five student mobilities are planned over the two years of the project . For each trip, a school brings a group of five students (20 students per mobility). Each school that hosts these groups provides complementary activities which are:
– In Italy, students will work on interculturality and different educational systems. They will have to discuss the different forms of the employment contract, the procedures concerning work placements in companies.
– In Portugal, a document will be drawn up containing the necessary administrative formalities for travel and integration in each partner country.
– In Ireland each student will have the opportunity to work on the presentation of Curriculum Vitae and the usual application letter in each country. They will discuss the EUROPASS C.V.
– In Spain, students will be coached and will learn about codes for job search : “I want to find a job”.
– In France, students will be prepared for the job interview through role play workshops. Videos from these workshops will be grouped together on the eTwinning page dedicated to the project.
The students will be divided into 25 activity groups made up of 5 students from each country. This organization will involve young people of the same age, with similar training and different cultures. In addition, in accordance with the student skills framework, this implementation will work for the development of skills such as language activities of written and oral expression in another foreign language and the use of Information Technologies and Information Technologies Communication (ICT). Students will also learn skills related to the professional world such as teamwork, project management, adaptability, foreign language communication and sharing ideas. Students will have to adapt to the world of employment, customs, culture and philosophy of another European country. Once the project is completed, students will benefit from a rich personal experience that will improve their confidence and their level of qualification in order to be better equipped to get a first job in Europe or start abroad graduate studies.
