Project Summary
The Salvador Allende High School, based in Herouville-Saint-Clair, near Caen, France, is located in a greatly disadvantaged zone, both economically and socially. The school, does, however, have a double-diploma program in partnership with Germany. This program allows students to finish their secondary education with both national diplomas.
With our partner in Hambourg, Suederelbe High School, we would like to organize a week-long conference to help the students from both schools better understand the professional opportunities available to them in both countries. Given that the same career paths can be obtained via various educational backgrounds, it is important for our students to realize that their common goals can be achieved through different means. This conference would also include visits to major German companies that are based in Hambourg: Baiersdorf and Airbus.
At the end of the conference, the students will be able to express their future plans for their personal career paths, as well as compare their chosen path to those of their classmates and partners. The research completed by this project class will be shared widely on a bi-national platform, so that future students can use the same resources to determine their own post-high school education.
