Project Summary
This project provides tools for work-based learning based on know-how and best practice in Sweden, Germany and Scotland comprises organizations with significant and complementary experience of workplace learning in the automotive industry. The main objective for each of the partner countries is to promote the standard of work-based learning in the vehicle industry to keep pace with rapid technological developments. The industry-specific work-based learning is necessary for the learner’s acquisition of knowledge. Knowledgeable mentors in companies are important to more effectively achieve learning outcomes. Vocational training has structural challenges that require measures to ensure that it remains superior and competitive, uninterrupted and continuous in both a national and cross-country perspective, where business needs are changing rapidly. Increased quality in vocational education contributes to a great extent to its attractiveness as the business has a great demand for skilled labour. It also helps to facilitate young people’s transition from school to work and employability contributes to strengthening the supply of skills locally, regionally, nationally, Europe-wide and beyond. The outcome and impact provide support to companies, trade, teachers and workplace mentors to develop and deepen workplace learning. They receive valuable tips based on experiences of excellence from Germany, Scotland and Sweden. They can compare proven methods to be used directly or adapted to develop and improve workplace learning outcomes. Cross-country knowledge through both solid advice and comparison of proven methods in Germany, Scotland and Sweden, facilitates the transition of young people from training to employability and strengthens the national skills supply. Each country has its own education system and the manual gives preference to none of them. The intention is that the work-based mentor and teacher in vocational education and training should be able to use what he or she considers to be interesting and evolving in his or her own daily work life. The project outcomes are easily accessible online as an education for workplace mentors and VET staff and in line with the European policies and objectives of EU2020 and ET2020 and are directly linked with the policies presented in “Work-based Learning in Europe. Practices and policy pointers”. E-Learning carry great potential impact and opportunity to provide change in business and VET by cost effective and rapid transition of knowledge, policy and learning intentions.
