Project Summary
he project proposal “Youth Cooperation for the Preservation of Cultural Identity and Unity in Diversity” has the ambition to work for building European citizens with a successful personal and social expression, in the spirit of realizing the EU’s goals of recognizing and respecting cultural and linguistic diversity by transnational cooperation activities – exchange of good practices on pedagogical methods and approaches and ideas for understanding cultural diversity and cohesion.
Sharing good practices from cultural diversity exploration through ethnographic, historical, and linguistic expeditions will contribute to learning about different cultures and languages, enrich participants’ personal and social experience, create personal self-esteem and increase motivation development in young people. It will work towards bringing young people closer together, solidarity and intercultural dialogue.
The exchange of good practices in mother tongue (foreign) language learning and foreign languages will help young educators from non-formal and informal learning by presenting them with different and up-to-date pedagogical methods and approaches, building professional and personal self-esteem and enhancing their motivation for professional growth; will improve the quality of language training in mother tongues and foreign languages in the communities of the partner countries, will help to solve specific problems related to the acquisition of key competences by young people.
The project will involve 66 young people from two partner organizations, Bulgaria and Northern Macedonia, aged between 15 and 29 years. We will also include as a participant a number of young people with fewer opportunities, belonging to different minority groups.
The project plans 4 (four) short-term exchanges. In two of the meetings we plan to organize discussions on the problems of mother and foreign language training, demonstration of good pedagogical practices, workshops, creation of training resources. The lesson activity will combine different teaching methods and approaches, will offer an innovative approach of pedagogical interaction, involving the teamwork of teachers and students.
The other two meetings are “ethnographic expeditions”, gathering material on the cultural achievements of the two partner countries and their contribution to European cultural development. Teamwork, mentoring of distinguished young people, who will help young people with disabilities, the formation of critical thinking, creativity, will be encouraged. As a result of their research, the young people will prepare a booklet promoting the culture and traditions of the two peoples – a “Bilingual Youth Guide to Bulgarian and Macedonian Traditions, Customs and Historic Sites”.
The project aims to achieve the following results: getting acquainted with the cultural heritage of the partner countries and enriching the cultural experience of the young people, getting acquainted with the organization of the learning process in schools from different countries, learning about and applying new approaches to pedagogical interaction, acquiring and improving language, the social, digital competences of young people, the development of key competences, personal qualities and creativity of the participants as a way to their social inclusion.
We believe that the project proposal “Youth Cooperation for the Preservation of Cultural Identity and Unity in Diversity” will have long-term benefits for the participating organizations. It will build partnerships between non-governmental institutions that are deeply involved in young people’s problems and employment. It implies future cooperation and the continued exchange of good practices. The acquired competences, personal, cultural and social experience will create self-esteem, a sense of satisfaction, will motivate participants, will provoke creativity. Teachers will use in the long term in their pedagogical practice shared experience, created resources. The young people will help their personal development. The project will also support the social inclusion of young people with fewer opportunities. Dissemination of the results of the project will increase the public authority of the participating organizations.
