Project Summary

The project Youth United (YOU!) is developed to build capacities of organizations working with youth and transnational cooperation among ethnically and religiously diverse youth in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia and Slovenia through the development of cooperation and exchanges between youth organizations. Project recognizes that future conditions in Western Balkan depend on involvement of young people in policy making, and creating atmosphere for development of peaceful and productive societies. Young people continue to be affected by the economic and social crisis that has characterized the past years.SO 1: To strengthen capacities of organizations working with youth by providing knowledge and skills needed for quality work with ethnically and religiously diverse youth.SO 2: To promote cultural exchange, understanding, tolerance and friendship between youth from BiH, Serbia and Slovenia.Project intends to empower young people, particularly those with fewer opportunities. They will gain knowledges based on their previous experience and real needs. Therefore, project will address people and professionals working with youth by expanding their horizons in effort to achieve involvement of otherwise divided and separated youth in joint commitment to change the society and will give them opportunity to meet each other and share information, knowledge and best practices. Three countries have been through large impact changes in war and post war period that affected entire society producing and deepening separation and emphasizing cultural, religious and ethnic differences. Contact and time spent together in learning, playing and thinking about specific problems and solutions for will contribute to the change itself and make connections that can change and qualitatively improve young people lives. In world increasingly overflowing with xenophobia, fear of the other and calls for violence and misunderstanding, this project aims to promote culture of peace, acceptance of the other and active creation of a different world calling for unity in diversity. Capacity building activities–trainings on Human rights and democracy; Non-violent communication, overcoming stereotypes and prejudices; Lobbying and advocacy for youth democracy involvement; Organizational Development and Strategic Planning for organizations dealing with youth; Learning about Erasmus+ programme and how to apply; are developed as a complementary process in order to provide complete set of skills and knowledge to youth organizations. Additionally, Youth exchange Power of Youth (PoY) fosters cooperation and cultural exchange of ethnically and religiously diverse youth, promoting understanding, tolerance and friendship between youth from BiH,Serbia and Slovenia. Project YOU! aims to provide lifelong learning experiences, facilitate the entrance in the labor market of young people and to foster cooperation between EU and non-EU countries and foresee cooperation between different countries.
