Project Summary

“Together in Europe” is an artistic and educational cooperation project between three cultural organizations active in the audiovisual field: Diogène (MILLENIUM Festival) in Belgium, MEDIAWAVE Foundation (MEDIAWAVE Festival) in Hungary and MITRA 2000 in Bulgaria.Aware of the migratory crisis in Europe and the difficulty for young people from different cultures to live together, communicate and consider a common destiny in Europe, the three partners have developed a project that brings together three strands of activities: watching documentary films, training for audio-visual tools and the creation of documentary content. The objective of this project is to fight the rise in intolerance, to promote multiculturalism in Europe and to give young people new ways of expression in line with their reality. In order to do this, a transnational program, implemented between January and December 2016, will include training activities such as the “Youth European Jury “, the “Young MILLENIUM Reporters”, the “Web-Docs Meetings” and trinational workshops in which projections and debates will be organized supervised by trained mediators. The project is aimed at young Belgian, Hungarian and Bulgarian people, curious, awaiting quality content on these themes, wishing to know more about the langage of contemporary documentary cinema, young people facing discrimination, with migrant background or/and minority groups as well as facilitators, trainers and managers of structures working in the field of youth and integration. The project methodology involves non-formal education and skills transfer. It will be established by documentary and web-documentaries filmmakers as well as specialists (trainers, teachers, journalists, etc.).The project purpose is the design several tools:
– A MILLENIUM Collection of 10 documentary films on the theme of migration and of living together to be exploited
– An online dissemination website, gathering pedagogical content and ressources on the film Collection
At the end of the project the films in the Collection will be used by the partners of the three carriers of the project and their network as part of awareness campaigns. The website will provide educational content, videos of project activities and hints for educational use of the films of the Collection.
