Project Summary

Erasmus+ emphasizes that foreign languages have a prominent role among the skills that will help equip people better for the labor market and make the most of available opportunities. Starting from this point of view, Creative Drama and Games in English Language Teaching Project focus on teaching English to secondary school students in enjoyable and effective ways. The project will last 24 months. The partner countries are; Romania, Turkey, Portugal, Lithuania and North Macedonia. There will be 6 mobilities. 4 students and 2 teachers from each country will participate in the mobilities.
The objectives of the project are;
* To increase the levels of the students to the upper level via English lesson activities
* To lessen the anxiety levels of the students against the English language via English lesson activities
* To encourage students to gain more self-confidence via creative drama
*To increase the speaking skills of the students via creative drama
There are 5 different groups that will take part in project activities. These are students, teachers, other school staff, parents and local participants. Each school will form a group of 50 students for the project activities. Totally, at least 300 students will take place in the project. These students will be chosen from the students with fewer opportunities. These students have economic obstacles, cultural differences, social obstacles, educational difficulties, geographical obstacles or they are refugees. Their age is between 11-16. These students are the main participants of the project as they will take part in all dramas and they will enjoy the games in English lessons. These students also will take part in eTwinning projects. Each school will prepare a commission of teachers to manage the project. In the commission, at least one English teacher and one ICT teacher have to take place. The headmaster and one assistant headmaster will be involved in the commission as directors. Contact persons of each country are responsible for managing the project. English teachers are responsible for carrying out the project activities which are English lesson games and Creative Drama activities. The other teachers who do not take place into the commission will be informed about the project and they will join the dissemination activities of the project. Other school staff will take place in dissemination activities. Each school will host a drama which will be performed by the students. All parents and local participants will be invited to watch this drama. As products of the project;6 books which will include at least 192 English lesson games, 6 dramas which will be written by the students and a new curriculum with Creative Drama and games inside will be published. English teachers can access these products freely.
The project will be based on two basic planned activities. These are games and Creative Drama activities. For games, every school will produce at least two games related to the monthly themes every month. Totally, 190 games will be produced. English lessons with games will help to increase the levels of the students to the upper level and to lessen the anxiety levels of the students.
In the project, 6 Dramas will be produced as teamwork. Students will write the scenarios of the dramas together and they will take part in performing this Drama. Creative Drama activities will help to encourage students to gain more self-confidence via creative drama and to increase the speaking skills of the students via creative drama.
Two Methodologies to be used in carrying out the project; Total Physical Response in games and the communicative approach in creative drama activities.
Total Physical Response (TPR) Total Physical Response (TPR) is a method of teaching language or vocabulary concepts by using physical movement to react to verbal input. The communicative approach is based on the idea that learning a language successfully comes through having to communicate real meaning.
The results of the project are;

*At least 144 students from all schools will have experienced in having a role in a drama and their anxiety level will lessen.
*Students who will take place in dramas and games will have gained more self-confidence
*English speaking skills of students will have been improved.
*6 books and 6 dramas will have been published and will have been shared by other teachers.
*At least 190 English lesson games will have been published and will have been shared by other teachers.
