Project Summary

Climate change is a global problem that affects the entire planet.
The different summits of the climate, the increase in natural disasters worldwide and the general scientific environment, can highlight the importance of knowing, from a critical point of view, the environmental and human problems that are taking place as a consequence of the change climate .
With this project we intend to know and analyze two different ecosystems: the area of Turin and Piamonte, in the North of Italy and a part of the Costa Blanca, located in the Spanish southeast, specifically in Torrevieja, Alicante province.
For all this there are a series of activities, descriptions below, necessary for the students of each center, once the project is completed, to have a knowledge and a critical vision of the environmental management of their center, of the most important environmental problems as individuals , they can try to make changes, to try to stop this contamination affects global warming on our planet.

The aims of the project are:
– Study and evaluate how the industrial and economic activities of each area influence their contamination.
– Promote the internationalization of our educational communities.
– Know and value the environmental management of both educational centers.
– Study the carbon footprint of both centers.
– Compare the environmental problems of each area and agree on whether the solutions to be adopted would be similar or similar.
– To favor the professional development of the teachers who participate in this project, with the aim of improving the quality of their teaching and the innovation processes.
– Raise students’ awareness of how our daily habits influence pollution and, as a consequence, climate change.
– Promote activities that bring students closer to the close environment that surrounds them.
– Try to minimize the impact of our actions, both individual and community, on our closest ecosystems, and by extension, to our planet.
– Improvement of the communication skills of the participants.
– “Take advantage” of the worldwide Covid-19 pandemic and try to analyze if there is a relationship between contamination and the number of people affected by this virus.

Two secondary schools that will share the same concerns about the current climate situation will participate in this project:
IES Mare Nostrum de Torrevieja (Spain)
IISS Piero Calamandrei from Torino (Italy)
This project will be the first experience within this type of KA229 association for the two centers.

The result that we intend to achieve with this project is to generate a change in our educational community, and that this change can be transferred to other educational centers, to our municipality, to teacher communities and to our society in general.
This project talks about the idea of changing our habits in order to change the planet. How our small local actions can affect globally and how teaching can contribute to this change.
Fundamental to this change is the awareness and dissemination of projects like ours. Hence, our goal is to be able to reach the largest number of people.
Carrying out this project from home and in the current situation has been an experience and a challenge full of obstacles and difficulties that in the end we have managed to overcome.
