Project Summary

We are very proud and satisfied regarding the progress and results of our project.

The aim of the project was to let our pupils gain more knowledge on the effect of exclusion and the importance of social inclusion in order for them to be more careful in their future reactions. We made a partnership of four schools who all are located to a site related to WWII, where social exclusion was at his highest. By taking the topic to extremes, the project had a deep emotional impact on the participants, this helped to discuss the topic of exclusion with pupils and therefore promote positive social inclusion. The broader topic of social exclusion/inclusion was divided in smaller subsubjects being: prejudice, bullying, the Jewish situation and the exclusion during WWII. This helped pupils to apply the learned knowledge in their own lives. In this project we have closely worked together in the preparation and execution of this project with the international department of the Anne Frank House.

There were four exchanges planned however due to the Covid-19 situation, the LTTA in Portugal had to be cancelled. This LTTA was planned in March 2020 and all arangements and preparations were already made. LTTA in Belgium took place in March 2019, LTTA in the Netherlands in May 2019, LTTA in Poland in October 2019. Students who participated in the LTTA’s were selected by writing a motivation letter and following interview by the teacher team in their own school.

During the learning, teaching and training activities we have visited WWII related sites in each country (for example:castle of Jamoigne, Bastogne – War Museum, Auschwitz and the Jewish Quarter in Cracow, Anne Frank House) and met people or have learned about people who were affected by social exclusion and are key persons in promoting social inclusion. The travelling exhibition of Anne Frank has travelled to all four schools. In preparation of the travelling exhibition, students were trained by the Anne Frank House to be a guide of the exhibition. During the LTTA’s students and teachers worked on the theme of prejudice and bullying with workshops by employees from the Anne Frank House.

Our students have worked together on on- and offline assignments.
– Logo Competition
– Assignments to get to know everybody involved in the project
– Anti bullying protocol
– Reading Anne Franks diary
– Assignments in preparation of the LTTA’s (for example: interview questions for survivors of WWII, photo’s of Rotterdam before and after WWII)
– Reflection on the LTTA’s through making of a movie, writing a diary, making a game and a quiz.
– When the LTTA in Portugal was cancelled we made a Social Lockdown assignment for our students to express themselves and stay in communication with each other. They were asked to share photo’s of the view of the room / the ways they were dealing with distance learning, write a story about someone they regarded as a super hero or share a comfort food cooking recipe.
All assignments and results were shared on our E-twinning page: https://live.etwinning.net/projects/project/178458. All four schools received an E-twinning quality label for the project. Belgium also received a special eTwinning prize within the yearly E-twinning competition. Information about our project, news articles and results were also posted on our project website: https://anne-frank16.webnode.pt/.

By conducting this project we have worked on achieving the following objectives and concrete results:
