Project Summary

EUTOPIA brings together 6 distinctive universities to create a 2050 vision of a federated inter-university campus that is: • geared to future challenges • student-centred and empowering • attentive to the plurality, potentiality and pre-eminence of Europe’s regions• committed to the principles of openness and inclusion.The 2025 objectives of the EUTOPIA alliance operationalise the vision by creating• a learning community• knowledge communities• powerful place-making partnerships• decisive inclusivity actions• ambitious international networking. The objectives observe 10 principles and 6 commitments, and embed a policy of openness that supports Open Science, and Open Higher Education and Open Campus agendas. The processes and actions driving these objectives will establish EUTOPIA as a model European University alliance fit for 21st-century education, research and place-shaping relevance, contributing to strengthening European values and identity and increasing global competitiveness in the European Higher Education Area. EUTOPIA will actualise this model through distinctive, daring and driven actions.A 3-year realisation plan involving strategy development, development and implementation of instruments, and pilot cases will test these objectives. The plan establishes governance and sustainability structures, and develops tested mechanisms in Work Packages. In this way EUTOPIA will develop practices for realising a European University’s • governance structures and strategies • common learning Community • common Knowledge Creation Communities• place-making potentiality• inclusivity and equality dynamic• grounded and global forms of internationalisation • sustainability and dissemination mechanisms.At the end of the project, EUTOPIA will deliver• strategies for further progress towards the vision of a European University• instruments and tools to realise an inter-university campus• evaluation of piloted instruments driving interoperability.
