Project Summary

Project “Citius, altius, fortius” is a project of six partner schools.
Goal: Strengthening the profile of the teaching profession in physical education and sport.
The topic of the project is sport, healthy lifestyle and physical activity. The project partners – the team of teachers whose aim is to provide their students with sporting experiences and teach them values through sporting activities.
The project is designed for pupils from age 12 to 15. It is designed to last 24 months and will be implemented from October 1st, 2019. Preparatory phase is followed by activities carried by each of the schools individually, and six educational activities done in cooperation at the meetings (C1-C6).
In all of the participating schools, sport is an important phenomenon and they belong to the best sport schools in their area. They are also above average in their country in their national evaluations, and they are committed to exchanging experience and best practices, implementing innovative peer learning activities and workshops as well as conducting conjoint research and analysis. Therefore, this collaboration is expected to be important in order to enhance and improve the attractiveness of the teaching profession. The project activities are divided into two areas dedicated to teachers and pupils. Both areas intertwine.
Physical education teachers will play an important role as they will carry out the main part of this project. The aim of the project is to strengthen their teachers’ professional competences. Their professional competence and experience can motivate children to move and play sports. Their expertise can possibly prepare a talented child for a career of a successful professional athlete. Their positive example and personality can change young people’s lives.
The following goals were chosen to support this priority:
1 / Methodological seminars
Each of the partners has chosen a sports field where they can prepare a professional seminar for PE teachers ( training methodology, healthy eating, antidoping activities, the latest trends in sports training )
2 / Methodical lessons of physical education for colleagues. Physical education teachers will allow their colleagues to attend training activities on their lessons.
3 / Participating in training of selected sport carried out by the host school.
B / Pupil – harmonious personality with love for game, movement, sports and fair play.
The following goals were chosen to support this priority:
1 / Meetings and workshops: Meeting with an Olympian; My Board of Sport Legends; Over the Chronicles of Sport. The aim of the project is also to show children the success of sport icons and thus motivate them.
2 / Sports tournaments – Each school will take patronage over the organization of one sports tournament for children of participating countries. Each partner school chose a sport which their school excels at, and they are able to organize a competition in. For children it will be the opportunity to show their talents. Preparing an event that aims to complement theoretical knowledge during the educational activity, project team will get the opportunity to show their organizational skills.
Partners agreed on the following sports: football, tennis and streetball, badminton, handball, canoeing, table tennis, athletics
3 / Hiking Day
On of the activities that will be carried out during the meetings of partner schools will be hiking in the area. Therefore each partner school will prepare a hiking trail in their area that would be easy and adapted to the abilities of the students. The benefit of this activity is to show the geographic aspects of their surroundings to the host students and teachers and thus to fulfill the secondary objective of the project – to educate pupils in the cultural heritage of the given region.
4 / Small project tasks. These subtasks will be carried out by pupils throughout the duration of the project as after school activities. The topic of these subtasks are as follows: My Sports Report; Our Games for Kids; Dictionary of Sports Words; Recipe Book of Healthy Diet; Sports Film; Doping Destroys Sports; How to Perform First Aid; Physical Education Teacher Portfolio.
Pupils and teachers participating in the project will be given questionnaires at the beginning and at the end of the project. The initial questionnaire will be to monitor the observed phenomena at the beginning of the project. The final questionnaire will be to identify the project results. To evaluate the project the results of the questionnaires will be analysed. We expect that the planned activities will meet the set goals and priorities.
At the end of the project, in addition to educational experience, each school will be enriched by materials that could be used in lessons. Pupils and teachers participating in the project will be given questionnaires at the beginning and at the end of the project. The final questionnaire will be to identify the project results.
