Project Summary

In the wake of the Brexit referendum, the latest presidential elections in the USA and the ever growing stealthy influence that foreign states strive to exert on democratic elections through the pervasive power of social media, we believed that it was within our educative role to make pupils aware of their information surrounding. The purpose of our project was to work on the theme “Europe and the media and Europe in the media” with 15-16 years old pupils.
Our project included four partners in Spain, Greece, France/Germany, and Finland.

The purpose of our project “Headlines: More Than Meets the Eye”, is to work on the theme “Europe and the media and Europe in the media” with 15-16 years old pupils.
Four schools from Spain, Greece, France/Germany and Finland will participate in this project and through a combination of practical activities and analysis, our purpose was to shed light on the construction and the dissemination of news.

The topics we covered were how news was treated differently across Europe, fake news and how each participant country was perceived by the other partners.

The results we expected from the pupils were podcasts, web radio reports, newspapers front pages, articles, exhibitions and radio shows.
The aim of the project was to educate pupils on the media and the use of information technology. It also strived to promote objectivity and a critical spirit.

Besides, the project also emphasized the values carried by the Erasmus+ programme:
– Encouraging mobility across Europe.
– Improving linguistic skills.
– Creating a sense of belonging to the European community.
– Developing social skills.
– Improving ICT skills.

All our outcomes were shared via eTwinning, Erasmus+ Result Platform, project’s web-site. All created material is accessible to everyone.
