Project Summary

The project “I know where I am from” takes up the subject of cultural heritage, which is an important aspect in the social and economic development of each country. Six schools from the following countries will take part: Poland, Spain, Italy, Greece, Hungary and Croatia. Its participants will be students aged 10-15 (about 300) and teachers (30) of such subjects as: foreign language, early childhood education, computer science, technology, music, art, history, geography, mother tongue. We also assume participation in the project both parents of our students and members of the local community, among others: family members, local press, members of local self-government, outstanding figures living in nearby areas, representatives of various professions, employees of cultural centers and other regional organizations. Participation in the project will give us the opportunity to get to know the cultures and traditions of other countries, thanks to which we will develop an open attitude, tolerance and respect towards other people among students. It will allow them to feel European while maintaining their regional identity.
The overriding aim of this project is to include elements related to cultural heritage in the educational process on various school subjects using ICT tools. Students will be able to develop skills: artistic and technical, musical, literary, IT and language through creative and entrepreneurial activities as part of partnership cooperation with the use of interesting and modern methods, including ICT tools. Implementation of tasks will additionally increase the level of language skills, as well as strengthen the motivation for further education.
The project also assumes the desire to search for their roots. Pupils’ task will be to examine the past of their families, and then to search for traces of cultural heritage in ever wider circles, starting from their place of residence through subsequent regions of their country to other European countries. Apart from discovering their identity and the opportunity to present it on the international arena, students will have the opportunity to learn about other cultures and their rich stories, broaden their horizons, open their minds. We believe that the awareness of the value and cultural significance of the regions and countries in which we live is very important in the era of today’s globalization.
To achieve the above goals, the exchange of experience between teachers should be used, including: getting to know each other’s work workshops, educational systems, joint search for innovative work methods and ways to implement them, as well as constructing ICT-based methodological-didactic help. Therefore, international project meetings and joint trainings that will help in the development of international teaching aids and will provide a platform for exchange of experiences will be extremely important.
The priority will be for us to constantly cooperate with their foreign peers. In this aspect, students’ mobility will play a huge role, enabling them to learn about foreign cultures, traditions and history, improve their communication skills in English while working in an international group of students, work on a common task, problem to be solved, and the opportunity to share the fruits of your work.
The result of the project is to improve students’ language skills and their learning outcomes, increase the ability to use ICT for students and teachers, and improve the learning outcomes and quality of work of schools that will participate in the project. The acquisition of social, organizational and intercultural competences by pupils will also be extremely valuable. The effect of international and interdisciplinary cooperation will be the publication on the significance of cultural heritage in the lives of contemporary young people and the importance of European cultural heritage through creative education, lesson and extracurricular scenarios, as well as the development of new teaching and methodological support based on ICT, a film summarizing the project activities.
Participation in the project will bring many long-term benefits to partner schools, such as: improving the ICT skills of teachers, improving language, interpersonal and intercultural competences and teachers’ professional qualifications, establishing international cooperation between teachers and students, improving teachers’ work skills, improving school results, improving the quality of school work, development of key students’ competences, including language and digital competences, improving the image of schools in local environments, as modern facilities caring for the development of teachers and students, using modern didactic methods and effectively supporting the students’ education process, deepening the schools’ sense of European identity and giving schools a European dimension.
