Project Summary

La Mêlée is an experience that involves 60 secondary school pupils from Europe, from 4 secondary schools in collaboration with 4 theatres, in 3 different countries (Slovenia, Croatia and France). Throughout the school year, a workshop in each secondary school will focus on one part of the text, then everyone will come together over the course of a week to finalise the creation and performance of a play in 3 languages.

By reinforcing the educational objectives of the partner secondary schools, La Mêlée aims to expose participating pupils to education through the art of theatre with an emphasis on:

* Group cohesion, autonomy, taking initiative, openness to others and accepting differences. The ability to adapt whilst remaining true to oneself and working constructively together.

* Learning from the significant experience, the humility to face evolving guidelines

*Participant fulfilment, removing them their everyday life in order for them to take control.

Through progressive stages it enables recognition that helps to ensure their place within the group.

One of the most important educational virtues of theatre is undoubtedly the concept of team, that is a group with a shared goal to succeed. This redefined group dynamic aims to restore the notion of fun and shared knowledge. We think the collective aspect is key to examining relationships with others in terms of differences and similarities. It is possible to see the issue of the European project, and beyond, the issue of any collective human project taking shape.
