Project Summary
The current global scenario, marked by social, political and environmental crises which become more and more frequent, requires Education to assume a greater responsibility than ever in forming the new citizens, with a strong focus on the Millennium Development Goals (MDG) agenda. Social Innovator Students (SIS) Project created a partnership with four partners from TR, EL, PT and N. Ireland focusing on the sense of initiative and entrepreneurship to create opportunities and products to be the bridge the gap between the needs of the world of work & the skills provided by the school. SIS project intends to address this specific need, promoting the Education for Global Citizenship (EGC) and Entreprenual Skills by enhancing interactive teaching in secondary schools in Europe through use of real life like scenerios, social responsibility projects, contests which include and deepen Sustainable Education and Development Education. SIS project promoted the idea of making active and creative contributions to society on a local, national &international level by supporting themes with the tasks as the successors of workshops such as social responsibility projects to promote empowerment &the active citizenship of young people. In addition to this, it made the pupils actively involved in socio-economic life around them and exchange this experience with other members in a network of active citizens through job shadowing, career days and success stories. Duign the SIS Project developed workshops, tasks and logo and motto competitions, school visits to incubation innovation cenetres to develop the key competences for enhancing the creativity, competitiveness, employability, entrepreneurial and leadership spirit of pupils between 14- 18. SIS project promoted the young people’s motivation, stimulated and nurtured their creativity and entrepreneurship through planning the innovative projects, competitions and SIS Career Day in TR. SIS project-based learning promoted entrepreneurial skills through 4 workshops based on the theme of entrepreneurship to give students the attitudes, knowledge and skills to act in an entrepreneurial way. The project was initiated with conducting need analysis with Google questionnaire at schools to define the awareness of the ss on ECG and EE than the workshops, scenarios based on 4 entrepreneurship themes: LEADERSHIP, ACTIVE CITIZENSHIP, TEAM WORK & ORGANIZATION and CREATIVITY & INNOVATION. SIS Council were set up with at least 15 students to assign the roles to the members of the council and give students the opportunity to become independent researchers, decision makers, and organizers. The contest for the logo and the motto were the part of creativity workshop and each partner school enagaged their students to create their logos and mottos. During the project each theme was linked with the contents of them with the school subjects from different disciplines such as social sciences, language, philosophy and maths to see the connection of the education with the real life. The partners created the social networking list including the contact companies, educational institutes, municipalities and NGOs to work collaboratively to conduct their SIS Projects, to arrange the schol visits, to invite as the speakers in the school seminars. Erasmus Corner was designed and the workshop topics were presented in the corner, activities and seminars were announced through this corner. SIS project page was created and all project documenst and activities were shared in a twinspace with the name of “SISPROJECT”. School seminars were scheduled and announced via Project corners and web site announcement board by the project partners. Their results were shared by the partners through reports and photos in the web site, facebook page and blog. In September 2017, Entrepreneurship Youth Camp was organized in PT. The students created their global projects during the mobilities and conducted their innovative and initiative projects in their schools through inviting the new participants to their projects. Three issues of newsletters were prepared by partner schools to announce mobilities, project activities, seminars and crucial events. SIS Carreer Day in Bulent Akarcalı Conference Hall was held on 25th April 2018 with the participation of the 90 students and 12 teachers from10 different schools. Roll up- pens, folders and banners were printed and distributed during the Carrer Day as the promotional and dissemination materials of the project. The white paper was prepared to provide information about opportunities and strengths of SIS outcomes related to the target group’s requirements and Greek partner opened a new window in their browser and created the blog to disseminate the project activities and events https://erasmusis.blogspot.com. to disseminate the project to the stakeholders of the projects and decision makers. In the final project meeting the further projects and collaboration were planned.
