Project Summary

Shaping the transition from school to work is one of the most important tasks that schools are currently facing. The professional opportunities for schoolchildren have never been as diverse as they are today. The secondary school and professional offers are becoming ever broader and more permeable, so that the students’ need for more preparation for the world of work increases. High dropout rates in terms of training and studies illustrate this problem. With this project we want to start at the interface between school and work and have targeted three important areas:
– How do students experience first steps in the world of work? What knowledge can companies derive from this? What are the needs of young workers, what do companies expect from them?
– How can a direct link between school content and the world of work be established so that students can better assess in advance what skills they have and what demands are made of them.
– What opportunities do young people have on the European labor market? What are the options in this regard with regard to youth unemployment?
The students’ willingness to be mobile should be strengthened and, in addition to the technical content, such a project is of course always about strengthening European friendship, which is a great success story, but more recently (financial crisis, admission of refugees, Corona virus etc.) is repeatedly put to the test.
As many companies as possible should be involved and also usable results should be created, which are retained over the project period.
– One focus is on the perspective / experiences of the pupils, as many companies are interested in what makes young people tick, since the companies currently have many problems finding new talent. In the course of the project, a kind of guideline on the topic will be created from the collected and evaluated experiences of the students.
– It is also about the further development of instruments (internships, profiles etc.) to increase the accuracy of fit of students and training. This is intended to increase training satisfaction and reduce the dropout rate.
– The comparison of training systems, framework conditions etc. is based on the aspect that young Europeans now have the opportunity to go to work in other EU countries.
– Through the development of small teaching units that are carried out in companies, the students experience a link between the school content and the reality of the professional world, whereby school content is experienced as meaningful and at the same time, inhibitions of the world of work are reduced. In addition, the cooperation between schools and regional companies is developing and consolidating, which is still largely expandable given the fact that both have the same learners in their ranks at different times.
– Interlinking the school curricula with extracurricular learning locations or companies
– More multidisciplinary approaches in the classroom
– Strengthening the foreign and mother tongue competences of the students and the teachers. European cooperation will increase the enjoyment of working with the German language for all participants. Self-confidence in one’s own communication skills is strengthened for both native speakers and foreign speakers. It is not just about understanding and speaking another language well, but primarily about understanding and acceptance.
– Promoting the acceptance of the use of digital resources in the classroom at the participating schools
– Greater willingness to mobility (outside of vacation) among schoolchildren and teachers
– Get to know other European countries through integration into family, school and professional orientation
– Improve the chances of socially disadvantaged students
– Greater integration of students with learning difficulties and thus increased self-confidence, motivation and skills
– Increase the visibility of the schools involved through publications and project presentations
