Project Summary

The central idea of this project is to change the perception of the young people on the sciences,by using the institutions providing non-formal education:museums, theaters, astronomical observatories … within the flipped classroom strategy.The inversion of learning,classroom-home,will be completed with the third component: non-formal institutions,where scientific information will be put into practice.This motivation is in line with the document “A New Skills Agenda for Europe” of the Eu Commission,which underlined the need to provide”support for creating more opportunities to validate non-formal and informal learning; supporting teachers and trainers to introduce innovative teaching practices”;
In the schools students face a series of shortcomings,especially in the disciplines in the scientific field:too slow or too fast pace of information,homework at a higher level than the one taught,the need for feedback and the presence of the teacher for growth safety in learning.Flipped classroom,through the video materials used to deliver content,is an effective solution to solve these difficulties,but also those related to the attendance of schools in case of illnesses,epidemics,disasters. The need for vertical partnerships, the crisis of skills in contemporary society(according to Eurostat 2018, 40% of employers have difficulties finding people with the skills they need to grow and innovate),as well as the achievement of a Eu education are arguments in favor of the creation of mirror classes, flexible, attractive, reduced as costs.From this intention,we developed the project that will be implemented within 2 years,starting from the following statements in The Framework for Science Education for Responsible Citizenship(”Greater attention… to the value of all disciplines and how interdisciplinarity (STEAM rather than STEM)can contribute to our understanding and knowledge of scientific principles and solve societal challenges;This is a good time to expand opportunities for science learning,in formal,non-formal… settings”).
Aims:
stimulation of the active involvement of students in activities specific to STEAM disciplines
designing and coordinating scientific activities that contribute to the exploitation of the creative potential of the students in young school age;
promoting effective learning through partnerships with non-formal education institutions
promoting the conscious and rational use of the Internet and electronic devices
enhancing the motivation of learning basic scientific knowledge
stimulating the skills of logical thinking, problem solving and critical thinking
Promoting tolerance,respect for other cultures
motivating teachers for improving the methodological and practical skills in STEAM field
knowledge of the curriculum in the partner countries
promoting intercultural collaboration
The objectives,activities and expected results will be presented as group products and not individually.The project is addressed to a number of 50 teachers,in the context of 5 mobilities in Romania,Turkey,Greece,Bulgaria, Italy,over a period of 2 years,and will involve about 150 students in its activities.
Results:
Activities organized in partnership with institutions providing non-formal education:collaboration protocols,video materials, mini-lessons,workshops, class-laboratories,on the main and specific subjects of the project involving students,teachers,parents, trainers
5 mobilities for teachers

The project will have a special impact on both the students and teachers involved,as well as on the non-school institutions involved,thus affecting the entire community as a whole example of collaborative activity.
We hope the project will:
contributes to the creation of a video resource base of European reference,for the flipped classroom
contributes to the construction of a common European-type curriculum (based on common aspects of the partners curriculum)in the field of science
promote an innovative way of teaching STEAM disciplines, in partnership with non-formal education institutions
contributes to increasing the involvement of families,local community,institutions, associations in school activities
promote the reduction of gender inequality, race, social origin in the school environment (meaning that girls compared to boys are less interested in the field of STE(A)M)
promote the participation of people with SEN in STEAM activities
ensure documenting the steps for dissemination of results
The project will have long-term benefits. In addition to the modernization of school educational practices, it will contribute to the grounding of theories regarding modern learning strategies, will lead to acquisition in terms of the skills and abilities of teachers, students, trainers, so necessary for active European citizens.
