Project Summary
Technology is making great progress, primarily in the field of robotics. Robots in the future, they will play roles in many different industries, and when Robotics begins to play a bigger role in the world and in our own lives, its environmental effect will attract more attention. Environmental problems on a global scale that seriously affect the very existence of humankind. Otherwise, the only work of various institutions closely related to the issue of public awareness. The key concept of this project is to develop the 21st-century skills of students by challenging environmental problems and strengthening environmentally friendly robots.
Robotic activities can be adapted to student needs due to their flexibility, so educational robots such as LEGO and VEX have become popular among secondary school students. On the other hand, teachers use the effects of technology-oriented STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) enriched content and skill education in lessons. Turkey, Portugal, Estonia, Poland, Spain and Macedonia as 6 schools experienced in robotics and environmental projects aim to be ECO-friendly schools by serving the EU 2020 targets.
Climate change and energy targets, which are the main topics discussed in the EU 2020 strategy, are determined as:
-20% cut in greenhouse gas emissions (from 1990 levels)
-20% of EU energy from renewables
-20% improvement in energy efficiency
In line with the EU 2020 goals and Erasmus + priorities, we want to increase the cleanliness and environmental protection inside and outside of our educational environment by using educational robots as an important tool in developing proposed activities to increase digital skills
We want to develop a model in our schools and provide to the sustainable growth of our countries with the need to include science and tech in education studies in the light of the EU 2020 (reducing the failure in reading, maths and science below 15%).
Therefore, we aim
1-To learn cooperation with different cultures
2-To Strengthen the professional profiles of our teachers
3-To Share good practices/experiences to become Eco-friendly schools
4-To Work with educational robots to find solutions to environmental problems
5-To increase the academic success of students in STEM classes with VEX, LEGO EV3 etc. robots
6-To Break negative prejudices about robots and finding solutions to global problems with educational robots
7-To help students focus on issues related to the natural environment (renewable energy, recycling, climate change etc.)
Planned Outputs
• E-Magazine
• eTwinning Project
• Brochures/Posters
• Eco-friendly lesson plans set
• Public &Final Report
• 6 ECO-SCHOOL CLUBS
• Project Website /Youtube Channel / FB page
• Increase in the number of ECO-Friendly projects (5%)
• Integration of ECO-friendly robotics into the curriculum
• STEM academic achievement of students in the 1st year, 3%, 6% increase in 2 years
With this project, we plan to work on designing eco- friendly robots and using them to create solutions to ecological and environmental problems. Each of these problems will involve the use of educational robotic designs with a project-based learning methodology that covers STEM areas (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics).
As 6 different countries with different cultures, we focus on Green Power, Rainwater Collection, Energy Saving, Recycling, Pollution, Greenhouse effect, Climate change, Air Quality, Recycling, Renewable Energy, Water Treatment, energy-saving, Waste Management, Balanced Ecosystem.
To find creative solutions to environmental problems through robotics (EV3, VEX, Mbot) will develop project activities in:
Turkey (C1)on GREEN HOUSES
Macedonia (C2)on GREEN SCHOOLS
Estonia (C3)on GREEN WAYS
Poland (C4)on BLUE SKY
Portugal (C5)on BLUE OCEAN
Spain (C6)on GREEN NATURE
Some of the project activities that will enable us to create eco-friendly Robo-schools and ruin prejudices within the framework of these activities are as follows:
Heron Fountain
Smart home design
Intelligent Traffic light
Tree Planting Robot
Garbage Collector Robot
Robot arm design project
Smart Greenhouse Project
Solar Powered Marine Vehicles
Solar Powered SeaSwarm Robot
Turkey(Coordinator), Portugal, Estonia, Poland, Spain, Macedonia LTT activities, will lead to the whole of our 7 goals. All our activities are integrated and parallel with our targets and with each other. Each LTT will take place with 4 students aged 15-18 and 2 STEM teachers from each country. Project-based teaching methods will be used in LTTs that will last 5 days. There will be cultural nights and trips related to the subject.
The realization of our project will make many short and long term contributions to our schools. The realization of this project will enable us to develop a curriculum that enables us to increase eco-school clubs, the usage rate of eco-friendly robots, raise awareness about environmental issues and educate NATURE AMBASSADORS.
