Project Summary
The project “Creating inclusive learning environment for students with special needs” will last 24 months. The partnership will comprise of 4 schools from 4 different cultural contexts: Ainos (Bulgaria), Tyrnavos (Greece), Lamezia (Italy) and Cracow (Poland). In our schools there are many special needs learners, migrant students and those coming from different cultural and social disadvantaged areas who are in danger of exclusion. The main aim of the project will be creating inclusive learning environment for learners with special needs by means of ICT resources, logical games, coding, mindfulness games, music, art and drama activities.
The main objectives of the project:
Student objectives:
– to create supportive and creative learning environment
– to level the playing field and increase the opportunities of learners with special needs
– to improve their memory
– to improve their concentration and readiness to learn (especially learners with ADHD)
– to enhance their self-awareness and self-esteem
– to develop their ICT skills and to expand an array of ICT resources
– to develop their logical and problem solving skills
– to promote their creativity
– to develop their motivation to learn
– to develop their spirit of cooperation
– to develop their language and communicative skills
Teacher objectives:
– to develop new teaching methodologies
– to discuss the similarities and differences in different educational systems
– to expand the use of ICT in all subjects
School’s objectives:
– to raise the level of education
– to give the school an international dimension
– to create links with international schools to launch online projects in the future (e.g. on eTwinning).
There will be several different groups of participants:
a) students (13-15 years old) and teachers directly involved in the project – they will take part in the mobilities and will be involved in all actions connected with the project realisation
b) ICT, English, Maths, Art and Music teachers from our schools who will cooperate and help with the project implementation
c) teachers who are taking part in specialist courses focused on working with students with special needs, who will share their knowledge and experience
d) all pupils from our school who will benefit from the results of the implementation of the project
e) students, their families, teachers and local citizens who will be indirectly involved in the project – they will follow the realisation of the project on our schools’ Facebook websites.
Two kinds of mobilities will be organised. First, 4 mobilities will be organised to focus on good practice exchange among teachers. The teachers will observe lessons during short-term joint staff training events. Then, they will conduct their own lessons to put the acquired knowledge into practice. During these meetings we will create an e-book in which we will prepare methods and activities aiming at the achievement of the project’s objectives. In the second part of the project, our ideas will be implemented with our learners in our schools between, during and after short-term exchanges of groups of pupils. They participants will cooperate together in groups. They will create common projects, which will be shared on TwinSpace and other digital tools.
The project results, activities and resources will be applied in our schools on a regular basis in the long term. The project will have a positive impact not only on our eduational centres but also our local communities. We hope the project will help our students get better grades, achieve highly in exams and be better prepared for the functioning in the world of work.
As a result of our international partnership, our school will receive the international dimension. We will take measures to disseminate the results of the project and to continue our international cooperation. We will create links and partnerships with other European schools which are willing to share their experiences and good practices.
